My mascara stains my face
My eyes burn red laced
My smile gone without a trace
I feel like a disgrace
We get worked to the bone
Told to get off our phone
Tested on what we know
All to seem grown
All day i just want to scream
But that seems so extreme
So instead I dream
Of the day I plan my scheme
We are told to be unique
But that sensitivity is weak
And all we get is critiqued
So we chose not to speak
On my breaks I sleep in
Until at least eleven
When I give myself a spin
And close my eyes again
The school system is there
And they say that they care
But when we start to share
They just say “there there”
It is you who is to blame
When every year it’s the same
And we all feel lame
No more left of our flame
It is help we need
When we stop trying to read
No longer wanting to succeed
Wishing time wouldn’t proceed
Our death rates are higher
Now that you require
Us to light a fire
When we are just tired
We all want a better tomorrow
Shoulders with lighter cargo
A day with less sorrow
Less time feeling borrowed
Soon you will see
The damage done to we
As we’re ready to flee
After you’ve hurt we
